When the hospital was opened on May the 3rd 1939 each of the guests at the dedication ceremony were presented with an 18 page booklet to commemorate the occasion. A copy of this booklet has been sent to ForlornBritain.co.uk by Mr Mervyn Portlock, Mervyn and his partner both worked at Barrow Hospital for many years during the 1990's.

Page 2 & 3 includes a map of the complete proposed hospital which would have housed 1200 patients. Construction was halted by WWII and never recommenced.
